Swim and Dive start the season off strong

On November 17th, 2019, Cedar Crest College’s Swim and Dive team had a double header meet against the Cazenovia Wildcats and the Gallaudet Bison. They won 126-69 and 99-94 respectively. 

The first event of the meet was the 200-yard medley. The Cedar Crest College Swim and Dive team defeated both the Cazenovia Wildcats and the Gallaudet Bison in their first double-dual conference meet on Saturday, November 16th. The Falcon won 126-69 against Gallaudet and 99-94 against Cazenovia. The Falcons are currently 3-2 overall and 2-0 in conference competition. Zaria Berry, Ember Kriner, Nyla Boulware, and Cassandra Reijgers finished this event with a time of 2:29.60. 

Freshman Abbey Mower was the only one to compete in the 1000-yard freestyle. She dominated the competition finishing in first place with a time of 12:35.31, only 10-second shy of breaking the school record in this event.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Mackenzie Inacker took first place (2:21.24), and Zaria Berry took third (2:26.24). For the 50-yard freestyle, Brenna Desborough finished in third with a time of 34.95 and Audra Bratis finished in fourth at 35.56.

Freshman, Rachael Alulis had an impressive day placing first in all three of her events including the 200-yard individual medley where she finished with a time of time 2:35.12 and the 500-yard freestyle where she had a time of 6:10.92. 

Wrapping up the meet was the 200-yard freestyle relay. This was the make it or break it event for the Falcons to get their first ever win against the Cazenovia Wildcats. The first-place relay included Inacker, Kriner, Mower, and Alulis who finished with a time of 2:02.92. The Falcons were also able to secure the second-place finish who included Reijgers, Player, Desborough, and Bratis who finished in 2:23.94. The Falcons are currently 2-0 in conference competition. They will travel to Delhi, New York next Saturday to compete at the SUNY Delhi Invitational where they will once again see the Wildcats who will be coming for redemption.
